<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">1. Prepare your kitchen -</span> We  all know that what you eat plays a key role in how much weight you lose  or gain. Why should you allow yourself to be tempted for no reason?  Don&#8217;t buy large amounts of the kind of fattening, sugar filled food that  you may enjoy eating too much of. Clear you kitchen of tempting  fattening food and you&#8217;ll find it much easier to eat the healthy food  that will help you to lose weight.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: bold;">2. Set short term goals -</span> Give  yourself a deadline by which you will shed some pounds. Make sure this  deadline and goal are realistic. There&#8217;s little point in setting  yourself up to fail. This will only damage your motivation. A lot of carbon dioxide in the body leaves its major  byproducts such as lactic acid that are not too good for the body. 30  minutes of exercise in at least five days a week will be adequate for  you. You may also avoid high intake of high calorie foods like red meat  especially roasted one, eggs and frequent consumption of alcohol. This  should be substituted with consumption of various vegetables, fruits and  taking a lot of water. Boiling the food or even eating it raw  especially the fruits will give you an added advantage.</p>
<p>You should  therefore ensure that the amount of calorie you burn equals the amount  you take and that will give you a constant weight that you can maintain  easily.</p>

<p>Many people begin a weight loss program with the best intentions.  They reduce calories, exercise regularly and slowly begin to drop  weight. After losing for a few weeks or months they hit a plateau which  can have a psychologically devastating effect on their desire and  ability to stay on track. Many people have difficulty making the proper  food choices which will help them achieve their weight loss goal, and  believe that because they exercise they can eat larger portions to  compensate.</p>
<p><b>Altering Our Food Perception to Lose Weight</b></p>
<p>There  are a variety of factors which influence the way we view food when  trying to lose weight. Most people understand that burgers, fries and  ice cream are all bad options individually, but when a healthy food item  is added, dieters tend to believe that the total calorie count was  somehow magically lowered. Adding a side of broccoli to a piece of fried  steak makes it appear more acceptable even though the calories have  increased.</p>
<p><b>Understanding &#8216;The Dieter&#8217;s Paradox&#8217;</b></p>
<p>Researchers  call this misperception of mixing healthy and unhealthy foods &#8216;The  Dieter&#8217;s Paradox&#8217;. The results of a study published in <i>The Journal of Consumer Psychology</i>  explains the mindset behind combining foods which promote weight loss  with calorie laden choices in participants trying to drop weight. People  were shown a high calorie food and asked to estimate the calories. They  were then shown the same food with a traditional diet food, such as  steamed vegetables or a salad and asked to determine the calorie count.</p>
<p>When  presented with the second option, they estimated 5 to 10% lower  calories, even though there were clearly more total calories with the  additional item. This type of research clearly shows there&#8217;s a  disconnect occurring in our brain when making the correct choices for a  healthy meal to promote weight loss. We see less food calories when even  the smallest amount of healthy food is added to the meal.</p>
<p><b>Eating to Lose Weight</b></p>
<p>You  can combat the natural tendency to underestimate food calories by  planning your meals in advance, employ nutritional tracking software and  maintaining a food diary. Weigh and measure every food item you prepare  and keep track of daily calories and physical activity in your journal.  You&#8217;ll quickly understand which foods contribute to your weight loss  plateau. It&#8217;s important to understand that everybody will hit a plateau  which can last a few days up to a month or more. This is normal, as your  body adjusts to each new weight level. Be patient and your good efforts  will be rewarded.</p>
<p><b>Regular Exercise Leads to Excess Calories Consumed</b></p>
<p>Everyone  knows that regular exercise is vitally important to our health and  assists in the weight loss process. The only way to avoid these mistakes and achieve your weight loss goal  involves judicious tracking of all food eaten each day in a journal,  being careful not to rely on exercise as an excuse to overeat.</p>

Now I know you don&#8217;t want to look like a bodybuilder and be all  big and muscular, but every little bit of lean muscle you have helps to  burn body fat around the clock.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s right, those tight, lean  muscles are actually the best fat burner on the planet. Just by  maintaining what you have will keep you body in burn mode 24/7.</p>
<p>To  combat this fact of life there are two options. You either need to  maintain what you already have or work toward getting some more. Now,  once again, don&#8217;t be fearful of lifting weights and bulking up. If it  were that simple to lift some weights and turn into the next Arnold  Schwarzenegger then we wouldn&#8217;t be in the midst of an obesity epidemic.</p>
<p>Either  way you need to hit the weights. Now when I say that, it doesn&#8217;t really  matter what type of resistance training you use in a fat loss program  for women over 40. I would stick to using a mixture of body weight,  kettlebells and other free weights. Aim for three, 30 minute, sessions  per week with a focus on quality and intensity. That wasn&#8217;t a misprint,  three, short and hard sessions per week is all you are going to need to  maintain that important, fat burning lean muscle. Stick with full body  or compound exercises such as squats, lunges, pushups, pull ups,  pulldowns, jumps, swings and presses. You don&#8217;t need to do any extra  abdominal exercises because the overall effect of your training will  ensure that you have a strong and firm core. As you start to lose more  belly fat, this sexy lean waistline will reveal itself (without hundreds  of boring crunches or situps).</p>
<p>If you have more time available to  train, then add on some high intensity interval training and you will  be able to burn even more fat. It goes without saying that you need to  be following sensible eating plan. Make sure it has the right  combination of lean protein, quality carbohydrates and good fats. Once  you are eating the correct foods, then we need to look at portion  control which will really flick the switch and turn your body into a fat  burning furnace!</p>

<p>It is a fact that nearly everyone wants to lose weight. But diet  recipes for weight loss is where a lot of people get hung up. We don&#8217;t  want to eat, horrible, bland, army barrack type food. The good news? You  don&#8217;t have to! There are plenty of ways to cut carbs while still having  a delicious home cooked meal!</p>
<p>Below are three diet recipes for  weight loss that will allow you to cut out a lot of the carbs but still  have an AMAZING meal that your whole family can enjoy!</p>
<p>#1 Crock  Pot Beef. Yes you can still enjoy warm and hearty beef for dinner and  have it be healthy! Just try to avoid burgers if you can. A good recipe I  like to use is to buy a lean cut of beef, add in some sort of broth,  celery, onions and carrots and set it for about 6 hours. If you are  seriously counting carbs skip the potatoes, if not add them!</p>
<p>#2  Fish. This is one of the best diet recipes for weight loss. Any kind of  fish is fine, its ALL healthy for you. Just don&#8217;t go to Long John  Silvers. Fish is chock full of protein and healthy fat, add some brown  rice and steamed veggies, and you got yourself a damn fine meal!</p>
<p>#3  Salad. This is a great thing to eat when trying to lose weight, as it  is very filling, yet low in calories. You can add anything, sprinkle  sunflower seeds, add cheddar cheese, croutons, slices of hard-boiled  egg. Make it virtually anyway that tastes best. You cant go wrong!</p>

(I would be first in the queue if there was any such pill!!) Unfortunately I can&#8217;t provide such a pill or tell you of anyone who has come up with any such &#8216;miracle cure&#8217;, but what I can do today though is provide you with 8 power diet tips for rapid and safe weight loss.</p>
<p>So here we go!</p>
<p>Power Tip # 1 &#8211; Keep a food journal</p>
<p>People always eat more than they think. Dipping your finger into the cake mixture or eating your child&#8217;s left over biscuit are still calories and needs to be counted. Write down everything you eat and be honest! You&#8217;ll soon see why you are not losing weight and what you need to cut out to make your weight loss more rapid.</p>
<p>Power Tip # 2 &#8211; Drink plenty of water</p>
<p>Often thirst can be mistaken for hunger and a drink of water can alleviate hunger pangs. Also drink a full glass of water before eating your meal and you will feel more full and eat less.</p>

<p>Eat five or six small meals a day. This keeps your body working all day &#8211; i.e. increased rate of metabolism, keeps your energy levels up and keeps hunger pangs at bay. This way you will also burn more calories than you normally would with the conventional three meals you are used to have.</p>
<p>Power Tip # 6 &#8211; Choose wisely</p>
<p>When shopping, read the labels carefully. There is no such thing as low fat cheese for example, it just has a bit less fat. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and opt for low calorie drinks.</p>
<p>Power Tip # 7 &#8211; Alcohol = Empty calories!!</p>
<p>If you do have to have a drink then drink something like a wine spritzer where you top up the wine with a large amount of soda water. This way you will stay hydrated and drink less alcohol. Keep in mind that alcohol has major calorie content, so if possible, opt for a non-alcoholic drink. This will make losing those extra pounds just that much easier, or at least save you from adding on any extra weight.</p>
<p>Power Tip # 8 &#8211; Rewards</p>
<p>Reward yourself regularly for your achievements. You deserve it.</p>

<p>Contrary to what many people think, diets don&#8217;t have to completely overhaul the way you eat or think about food. There are diets that will not require you to do some drastic changes. You can even lose weight simply by changing the way you perceive food and properly portioning your favorite dishes. I know you have been itching to know how to lose weight fast. This article will show you a few pointers in creating easy to follow diets.</p>
<p>First, eating breakfast is only one of most essential things you can do in the day. Having a proper foundation for the day ahead is often overlooked in the morning rush, but don&#8217;t be fooled; eating a meal early in the day raises your blood sugar, gives you plenty of energy and ensures that you don&#8217;t over eat later in the day. Something as simple as a glass of skim milk and some oatmeal sprinkled with raisins or granola can be plenty to hold you over for hours.</p>

Needless to say, alcohol should be avoided but it is up to you. You can party but not too much and too often. Why not have a glass of red wine instead? It is nutritious, delicious, and classy.</p>
